Biography
“Am I worth a felony arrest to you?” asked the tiny debt collector of the enraged 6-foot, 200-pound man as he leaped over the counter, backing the 20-year-old brunette up against the wall. Moments later, after writing a check for the full amount he owed, the debtor hugged Christina Harbridge-Law and walked out the door.

As Founder and Princess of Bridgeport Financial, Inc., Christina broke the mold in the collections industry with a positive, direct, humanizing manner of communicating, which led debtors to send “thank you” letters along with their payments and offer the occasional wedding invitation. This method, “Turning a collection call into a sales call™,” collects three times the industry average and keeps the customer happy.

After graduating from college with a degree in economics – while she was building two companies – Christina began lobbying in Sacramento, CA, USA, and Washington, DC, USA, for equitable legislation. She has been training high-level elected officials and organizations in public speaking and communication for 20 years.

Christina’s grounding in performance art, her long time passion for fabricating large-scale metal sculpture and other collaborative art installations have provided her with a unique understanding of how to share information with the human animal she loves so well. Experiential learning is the only way to transform human potential into profit.

Christina founded Allegory to conjoin her disparate experiences and abilities into a heady mix of potent communication training programs. Her upcoming book, “ Your Professionalism is Killing You™,” will be available in stores soon.

Breakout Session: Emerging Technological Trends on the Web and How They Affect Your Business
Until just a few years ago, businesspeople inside established companies could rely on a limited number of well-known strategies to define their relationships with their customers. Companies could feel confident that, so long as they executed their strategies effectively, they controlled their own business fortunes. Indeed, the first 10 years of the World Wide Web (WWW), for all its revolutionary import, mainly affected the costs of doing business and the velocity of communications. But recent events on the Web, sometimes collected under the catch-all phrase, “Web 2.0”, have changed all that.

New technologies on the Web are overturning the way customers are thinking about the businesses from which they buy products and services. It is becoming harder and harder for companies to control their customers, their marketing, their partners and many other things. In this interactive and energetic session, technology expert Jason Pontin will discuss some of these emerging technologies and explain how they can be harnessed to create better, more flexible, more innovative companies. Among the trends he will discuss are:

  • The Open Source movement and its application to businesses outside of software
  • Social networking and the economics of brand reputation in a changing marketplace
  • Micro-blogging and always-on connectivity and its uses as a business tool
  • Virtual worlds as a 3-D immersive environment for business
